History of the Fram Polar Ship
TheFram Shipwas a distinguished Norwegian vessel designed to withstand the extreme conditions of late 19th-centurypolar expeditions. Built in 1892, its reinforced construction allowed it to venture into the inhospitable regions of the Arctic and Antarctica. Under the command of the renownedFridtjof Nansen, the Fram reached previously uncharted latitudes, playing a key role in the search for new routes through the ice. Later, the ship served in the expeditions of explorerOtto Sverdrup, mapping unknown areas of northern Canada, and in those of the legendaryRoald Amundsen, who, with the Frams help, became the first man to reach theSouth Polein 1911.
Thanks to these achievements, theFram is considered one of the most famous polar exploration ships in history.
